THRIVE SOMALIA: Nurturing Growth through Sustainable Agriculture
THRIVE SOMALIA stands as a testament to the commitment of Case International, actively engaged in a transformative project aimed at addressing food security and promoting sustainable agriculture. With boots on the ground, we are already making strides in empowering communities through strategic interventions.
Ongoing Initiatives:
Agricultural Productivity: Through THRIVE SOMALIA, Case International has been actively involved in increasing agricultural productivity. We’re providing farmers with improved seeds, fertilizers, and other essential inputs. Simultaneously, our team conducts hands-on training sessions, equipping farmers with sustainable farming practices to elevate yields and enhance crop quality. Already, we have reached and empowered 5,230 farmers.
Water Management: In the water-scarce landscapes of Somalia, THRIVE SOMALIA places a significant emphasis on water management. Rather than just focusing on infrastructure, our ongoing efforts delve into effective water management techniques. We work closely with Water Users Associations, training them to optimize water usage efficiently. This dynamic approach ensures the sustainable use of water resources, vital for supporting agriculture. Presently, we have trained 20 Water Users Associations across targeted regions.
Disaster Risk Reduction: THRIVE SOMALIA has been actively working to reduce the impact of disasters on food security and agriculture. By establishing community-based disaster risk reduction initiatives, we’ve empowered 30 communities to better withstand and recover from unforeseen challenges. Additionally, our emergency assistance programs have provided crucial support to 2,000 affected farmers, demonstrating our commitment to swift and effective response.
Scaling Up Project:
Scaling Empowerment: As THRIVE SOMALIA progresses, our goal is to reach and empower a total of 40,000 farmers, creating a ripple effect of sustainable agricultural practices.
Water Management Excellence: Looking ahead, THRIVE SOMALIA aims to extend water management training to an additional 15 Water Users Associations, ensuring a broader impact on efficient water utilization.
Community Resilience Expansion: The ongoing success of community-based disaster risk reduction initiatives will be expanded to engage with an additional 20 communities, fortifying their resilience against potential threats to food security.
